Board-Certified Optometrist
Gabrielle Anderson, O.D.
Dr. Gabrielle Anderson is a Reno native and earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Science with an emphasis in Public Health from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her interest in optometry was fostered by observing her great-grandmother and the vision loss she endured. She had retinitis pigmentosa and eventually lost her vision but didn’t find out the diagnosis until later in life. All the while, Dr. Anderson’s great-grandmother raised nine children and all her grandchildren by herself even though she was suffering from blindness.
That experience had a big impact on Dr. Anderson and inspired her interest in optometry. After attending high school at Spanish Springs, she worked as an optometric technician in Sparks, Nevada, where she gained hands-on experience with patient testing, contact lens education, and clinical eye care before pursuing her doctorate.
Dr. Anderson graduated from the Kentucky College of Optometry in 2025, where she distinguished herself academically and through extensive involvement in the optometric community. She was a four-year Dean’s List student, received the VSP and American Academy of Optometry Foundation Practice Excellence Scholarship, served as Chancellor of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and was President of the Cornea Contact Lens Society. She also served as a student ambassador and tutor in subjects including physiological optics, ophthalmic optics, glaucoma, strabismus, low vision, and pediatrics.
During her clinical training, Dr. Anderson gained broad experience in primary eye care and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, dry eye, and anterior segment disease. Her externships included the Memphis VA Medical Center, Kentucky Eye Institute, and several community and specialty eye care settings. Her training also included specialty contact lenses, advanced diagnostic technology, and procedures such as amniotic membrane placement, punctal plugs, superficial keratectomy, and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy.
Following optometry school, Dr. Anderson continued her advanced training with a residency at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she specialized in advanced cornea and glaucoma management and co-managed patients undergoing MIGS and incisional glaucoma surgery, corneal transplants, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery. She also served as a clinical research optometrist and contributed to professional publications and presentations, including work focused on corneal hysteresis and glaucoma risk.
With strong ties to the Reno area, Dr. Anderson is passionate about providing thorough, patient-centered eye care and serving her community. After witnessing her great-grandmother’s struggles with vision and lack of access to care since she was an immigrant, Dr. Anderson has a desire and long-term goal to help increase quality eye care for underserved populations.
Outside of the office, she enjoys playing pickleball, cooking and baking, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her two mini Australian shepherds, Aspen and Zephyr.

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS
I would like to compliment the doctors and staff for making my cataract surgery a positive experience. I especially like how cheerfully and professionally I was treated from the first time I walked in the door. All phases of the surgery were carefully explained to me, and all my questions were answered to my satisfaction. When people ask me about my cataract surgery I recommend Eye Care Professionals.
Thank you so much for giving me back my sight. It really is better than it has ever been in my entire life. I look forward to seeing familiar things in a whole new light, with more definition and clarity. Thanks!
I was very nervous about the procedure but Dr. Mills took his time and answered every question I had. He made me feel very comfortable with everything. It’s less than 24 hours after my LASIK procedure and I can already see 20/15! I can’t recommend him enough and will always be grateful. What a positive experience!
